GBB vs non-blowback
Read MoreWhy choose gas?
- Realistic recoil: Gas-blowback (GBB) slides cycle on each shot, helping you track sights and practise fundamentals.
- Fast response: Minimal lag between trigger press and BB leaving the barrel.
- Compact and capable: Easy to run in tight spaces, draw from a holster and stow on your rig.
Who a gas pistol suits
- CQB players who value quick draw and fast splits
- Outdoor skirmishers wanting a reliable sidearm for transitions
- Training-minded players who want realistic controls and recoil
Green gas vs CO₂
- Green gas: Convenient and kinder to seals. Great all-round choice for most UK weather. Keep mags warm in colder months and use quality 0.25 g–0.28 g BBs for consistent flight.
- CO₂: Stronger impulse and better cold-weather resilience. Watch site limits and keep up with seal maintenance due to the higher pressure.
GBB vs non-blowback
- GBB pistols: Realistic slide movement, crisp recoil and easy manual of arms. Slightly more gas use per shot.
- Non-blowback: Quieter and efficient with a steady muzzle report. A practical option for cold days or long pistol-only games.

Setup tips that actually help
- BB weight: Start at 0.25 g for indoor sites, step up to 0.28 g outdoors for a steadier arc.
- Hop-up: Set it to hold level flight at your typical engagement distance, not to float forever.
- Mags: Run a few spares and rotate them. Lightly gas and store upright to protect valves.
- Lubrication: A drop of silicone oil on slide rails and mag O-rings goes a long way. Avoid petroleum on rubber.
